Took a break for Memorial Day weekend not because I was resting, but because not only did I have an eff-ton of training for Ironman, I also used the holiday to catch up on things like laundry, housework, grocery shopping, mowing the lawn, etc. (The house had gotten to a pretty sad state and probably will again since I now only have time to do such things on holidays, so see you on July 4th, broom.) Wow, it's been about a month of this challenge. Hard to believe! This was one of those days where it was hard to find things, especially since I wanted to hit 300 today, but after some serious scrounging around I did it! So, the past weekend we went to Target for new curtains and ended up leaving with a gorgeous new dish set which I absolutely love. How does adding more equate to a purge? By going from this: To this: I went from a set for eight (when we NEVER have people over) that included two sizes of bowls and three sizes of plates to a setting for four with one set of bowls. Doing the math, this counts as 16 items gone. The great thing is that Target also sells these a la carte, so if we need more plates or whatever we can just buy what we need. (I do know this will probably mean hand washing as we may not have enough dishes to fill the dishwasher.) We still have 3 plates and 5 bowls from other old partial sets that I'm hanging onto for now as well, just until we see how this goes, but I really really love this set with its simple white geometric design. This was one of those days where I found a ton and even SOLD an item for cash dollars! (I've made about $500 selling my stuff, no lie.) Yesterday was a 4.5 hour training day (#IronmanLife), followed by going to Plattsburgh to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (GO SEE IT) and have dinner, so no organizing/decluttering happened. However, we are back on today with a fresh new selection of items heading out the door. First of all, to follow up on Friday's post, we did indeed go to the dump, where we dropped off an old air conditioner and CRT television. It was only two items, but they were both really big and took up most of the back of the car. (Which right now looks worse because I'm sorting through memorabilia down there, but that's another story for another time.) Sold the juicer I got rid of - being picked up today. Scored some extra bucks! (I've actually made almost $500 at this point from selling crap I wasn't using. Pretty amazing.)
